2. (superl.) Foolish; silly; simple; weak.

3. (superl.) Foolishly tender and loving; weakly indulgent; over-affectionate.

4. (superl.) Affectionate; loving; tender; -- in a good sense; as, a fond mother or wife.

5. (superl.) Loving; much pleased; affectionately regardful, indulgent, or desirous; longing or yearning; -- followed by of (formerly also by on).

6. (superl.) Doted on; regarded with affection.

7. (superl.) Trifling; valued by folly; trivial.

8. (v. t.) To caress; to fondle.
