Hebrews belil, (Job 6:5), meaning properly a mixture or medley (Lat. farrago), "made up of various kinds of grain, as wheat, barley, vetches, and the like, all mixed together, and then sown or given to cattle" (Job 24:6, A.V. "corn, " R.V. "provender;Isaiah 30:24, provender").

Noah Webster's New International Dictionary of the English Language

1. (n.) Basic raw materials; food for livestock; people or items considered of little value; as, fodder for a comedian.

2. (n.) That which is fed out to cattle horses, and sheep, as hay, cornstalks, vegetables, etc.

3. (v.t.) To feed, as cattle, with dry food or cut grass, etc.; to furnish with hay, straw, oats, etc.
